iBall
Date
2021
Project type
Bachelor Design Project 1
iBall was designed to enable visually impaired children in primary and secondary school to actively play sports together with their peers during Physical Education (PE) and to develop a love for sports that will last a lifetime.
iBall consists of a foam ball with a core of several electrical components. The speakers inside emit 2 different sounds, one when the ball is in motion and one when it lies still. It uses adaptive sound technology to change its volume according to its surroundings. This way the children do not have to contain their enthusiasm, because the sound is always audible.
iBall is not bound to one specific game and can therefore be used for all ball sports. It is a greatly functioning and affordable alternative to the traditional jingling-bell balls that are limited in their use.
